Ledley King

Ledley King is a retired English professional footballer born on October 12, 1980, in Bow, London. He spent his entire playing career at Tottenham Hotspur FC, primarily as a central defender. King emerged from Tottenham’s youth academy and made his first-team debut in 1999.

Known for his exceptional athleticism, reading of the game, and ability to play out from the back, King quickly established himself as a key player for both club and country. Despite persistent knee injuries that limited his playing time, King remained highly regarded for his defensive prowess and leadership on the field. He played a significant role in Tottenham’s successes during his career, including winning the League Cup in 2008. King earned 21 caps for the England national team before retiring from international football due to recurring injuries.

Following his retirement from playing in 2012, King has been involved in coaching and ambassadorial roles at Tottenham Hotspur, as well as occasional punditry work in the media.
