Orla Chennaoui is a Northern Irish television journalist and sports presenter, renowned for her dynamic coverage of major international sporting events. Born in Draperstown, County Londonderry, she pursued a degree in law and french at Queen’s University Belfast and Rennes University, followed by a postgraduate diploma in journalism at Napier University in Edinburgh. Chennaoui’s journalism career commenced in print media with Scotland on Sunday and the Edinburgh Evening News, before transitioning into broadcast journalism with roles at 2 Ten FM, ITV Meridian and STV. In 2005, she joined Sky News as the Northern Ireland correspondent, covering significant stories such as the Omagh bombing trial and the historic power-sharing agreement in Northern Ireland. Her move to Sky Sports in 2010 marked her entry into sports broadcasting, where she specialized in cycling and served as the principal correspondent for the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games.
In 2019, Chennaoui transitioned to Eurosport, taking on the role of lead presenter for the network’s cycling coverage, including the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a España. Her responsibilities expanded to include hosting duties for MotoGP events and special programming focused on International Women’s Day. Beyond her broadcasting career, Chennaoui is a passionate advocate for mental health awareness. She founded “Ten Times Braver,” a platform dedicated to helping individuals harness anxiety as a positive force in their lives, offering practical tips and breathwork techniques for managing stress. As a qualified breathwork instructor, she combines her professional experience with personal insights to support others in achieving mental wellness. Chennaoui’s multifaceted career and advocacy work have established her as a respected figure in both sports journalism and mental health circles.
