Stan Verrett has been a prominent figure in the sports media world for over two decades. He’s widely recognized for his time as a SportsCenter anchor for ESPN, sharing each day’s biggest sports stories and voicing iconic moments throughout the years. Currently, Stan is a member of the broadcast teams for the Los Angeles Clippers and New Orleans Saints.
Stan was one of the longest tenured ESPN SportsCenter anchors. He first joined ESPN as an anchor for ESPNEWS in September 2000 and later moved to the Los Angeles Production Facility in 2009 to co-host the 1 a.m. ET edition of SportsCenter.
Throughout his career, Stan has become a familiar face in ads, including the popular “This Is SportsCenter” commercials. He’s appeared in commercials for brands like Dairy Queen, Jaguar, and Scion, and has shared the screen with stars like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Connor McGregor, Drew Brees, Michael B. Jordan, David Ortiz, Jorge Posada, Damian Lillard, and more.
Prior to ESPN, Verrett worked as a weekend sports anchor and reporter at WDSU-TV, an NBC affiliate, in his hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana. He also served as sports anchor and reporter in Norfolk, Virginia, at ABC affiliate WVEC-TV and NBC affiliate WAVY-TV. He was also a top-rated morning show personality at several radio stations in Washington, DC, Charleston, South Carolina, and Norfolk, VA.
Verrett is a graduate of Howard University in Washington, DC, where he was selected as one of the two outstanding graduates in journalism for the 1989 class. He was recognized by Howard in 2020 with the Alumni Award for Distinguished Postgraduate Achievement.
An avid golfer, he lives in the Los Angeles area. Verrett remains a loyal fan of the New Orleans Saints, frequently returning to New Orleans to attend games.
