We hosted the first Cambridge Half Marathon in 2012 with 3,000 athletes, over the following years the event grew in popularity due to its notoriety, for athlete experience and the electric race day atmosphere. We have grown increasingly conscious of the potential impact of sporting events. Through charitable partnerships and careful sustainable planning, we are extremely proud of the positive influence our event has both locally and nationally.

The results

The Cambridge Half Marathon has firmly established itself as a ‘Bucket List’ event within the running community, held in increasingly high regard year on year. Set against the backdrop of one of the world’s most iconic and historic cities, the event draws runners from across the country and beyond, offering a race experience that combines competitive challenge with an unforgettable atmosphere.
Such is the event’s reputation that it has grown to over 15,000 entrants, with places selling out within just four hours of general entry release, a remarkable demonstration of demand that speaks to the quality and prestige the Cambridge Half Marathon has earned. This scale of participation places it firmly among the most sought-after races in the UK running calendar.
The event’s impact extends well beyond race day. The Cambridge Half Marathon generates over £5.3 million per year for the local economy, supporting businesses across hospitality, retail, and travel throughout the city. Equally, it serves as a significant force for good in the charitable sector, supporting over 100 charities each year and collectively raising in excess of £1.8 million, making it as meaningful off the course as it is on it.
