Freddie McCann
Freddie is another THE·TEAM “next generation” cricketer who is gaining a big reputation as a batter and bowler at Nottinghamshire.
Early Career
Freddie played his club cricket for Papplewick and Linby in the Nottingham Premier League before launching his First-Class career at Nottinghamshire.
Nottinghamshire
After working through the age groupings at Nottinghamshire Freddie made his second lX debut in 2022.
County Championship
Freddie’s debut came in Nottinghamshire’s County Championship loss to Durham (August 2024). Despite this defeat, he launched his First-Class career with a noteworthy half-century (51 runs).
Runs again flowed in Freddie’s second Championship match. This time around, he scored 154 runs, his first century and highest score to date off the Surrey bowlers at Trent Bridge.
A second century (101 runs) followed against Warwickshire (September 2024). At the close of the 2024 Championship, Freddie had scored 358 runs (AVG. 51.14) from just five matches.
During the 2025 season, Freddie recorded his third century (138 runs) against Hampshire. He also achieved his best bowling figures in the County Championship when taking 3 Yorkshire wickets for 53 runs.
One Day Cricket
Freddie’s debut in the 50 overs per team format came in Nottinghamshire’s defeat to Leicestershire (July 2024).
Batting in eight games, Freddie hit 168 runs (AVG, 21.00) during the 2024 Metro Bank Cup. His higest score, to date, (48 runs) coming in the loss to Glamorgan (July 2024).
Twenty20 Cricket
Freddie’s career in the Blast started with a bang. On debut against Yorkshire, he smashed 48 runs off 32 balls – currently his highest score in the 20 overs per side competition (July 2024).
England Yong Lions
Named in the England Young Lions squad to face Australia Under 19s in two warm up games, Freddie hit 31 runs in the opening 50 overs defeat (August 2023). Game two produced a similar result; however, for Freddie it was a personal success thanks to an eye-catching half-century (51 runs).
Selected for the 2024 Sri Lanka Under 19s tour, Freddie scored 92 first innings runs for England Under 19s in the drawn Test match.
Following the sole Test Freddie tallied 212 runs and took 2 wickets in the three One Day internationals. The highlight being Freddie’s 174 runs taken off the Sri Lankan bowlers in game two.
